Providing we have an agreed sitemap so we’re both clear on each page’s role in the site, and have planned out the content elements of each page so I know what you want it to cover, I can then begin writing.
For me, this is the most straightforward part of the project. I know exactly what job each page needs to perform, and I can focus my skill and experience as a writer on making it do that.
It’s about making sure the site reads consistently, explains the business clearly, and builds confidence as a visitor moves through it.
That means keeping messaging consistent across pages, avoiding repetition, and making sure key ideas appear where they will have the most impact.
It also means knowing what to leave out.
Your website isn’t a dumping ground for internal knowledge. It’s a structured communication tool.
Site copy is never “one draft and it’s done”.
Once the first draft is in place, I expect to collaborate with you to review and refine:
The aim is to ensure that the site communicates clearly, responsibly, and in a way that achieves your commercial goals.
Website content needs to work not only for readers, but also for the platforms that help people find information.
Search engines and AI platforms now serve pages that explain subjects clearly, use accurate terminology and present information in a logical structure. Content that demonstrates genuine understanding of a topic is far more likely to be discovered and referenced.
As a website copywriter, I take this into account from the outset, structuring pages so they communicate clearly to both human readers and the technologies that guide them to it.
The value of writing content through this process isn’t just pages that are written well.
It’s that you site reads consistently, carries the right messages in the right places, and stands up well with audiences and stakeholders, both inside and outside the business.
That turns it into a valuable and effective tool in your marketing and communications.
I’d be pleased to hear about the challenge or project you’d like some help with.
