An absolutely delightful project for top UK big band, Swing City. With unexpected marketing savvy, band leader Dave Foster asked me to write a set of 3 positional statements to capture the essence of his band for use on their site, and in all promotional material. For this contextual paragraph, the longest of the 3 pieces, I used Dave’s guidance and sleeve notes from contemporary big band recordings to draw an appropriate pen portrait of the era the band evokes. Web content and positional statements for Swing City big band.*If no image of the finished project is available, my .pdf copyvisual or .docx copysheet is shown in its place.
“Ladies and Gentlemen. Swing City.”
You never were there. That’s the truth of it.
Those distant nights in Vegas. Lights down: the Rich, the Beautiful and the Well Connected sipping dry martinis, held in thrall by the cool, easy swing of the Big Band Legends.
Now, though, your chance is come.
Swing City breathes new life into the sumptuous melodies of the Big Band era, paying joyful homage to the sound the Legends made.
Tony Bennett, Ella Fitzgerald, Count Basie, Glen Miller, Andy Williams.
The Rat Pack Greats, too: Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis, as well as those stars who’ve come after them like Harry Connick Jnr and Robbie Williams.
With inspired playing and consummate professionalism, Swing City takes the arm of any event, corporate or social, and leads it on a hip, stylish and swinging journey to the dance floor.
