I’ve not included any of the actual copy for this sample, because I didn’t originate it myself. It’s still an important project to look at, however. PFW are a German-based aerospace engineering company making components for commercial passenger jets. Each quarter, I am sent the original German version of their 6 page A3 staff newsletter. I pass this to a specialist German/English translator who has learned, for this project, the vocabulary of both the aero industry and of this specific company, and she translates the content into English. She then returns it to me, and I edit each article to ensure that its context and level of interest are appropriate for UK staff at the company’s UK plant in Hampshire. This mix of translation and copywriter editing ensures the English readers get a newsletter that feels wholly relevant and appropriate, rather than a document which they feel is merely a translation of a communication actually intended for their German colleagues. 6pp A3 newsletter transaltion and reauthoring for PFW Aerospace.*If no image of the finished project is available, my .pdf copyvisual or .docx copysheet is shown in its place.
