After spending decades as a copywriter, it’s rare and exciting to be invited to work on a project in a sector I’ve never previously worked in. I worked closely with Space-Enabled business transformation specialist LAB287 on the content for this site, assisting their CEO in shaping and finalising the form of the offer, then scoping out the site structure and writing full site content. I’ve defined a bullish, forward looking and ‘exciting’ voice, appropriate to the ground-breaking offer, while maintaining the professional tone expected of a credible public sector service supplier. Full website scope and site content for space-enabled business transformation specialist, LAB287.

The UK leaders in Space-Enabled Transformation.

LAB287 is the UK’s leading specialist in space-enabled organisational transformation.

We help government and public sector bodies, as well as businesses in the private sector, to implement change by putting to work the capabilities and potential of data and technologies originating or located in space.

Established in 2014, we have extensive experience of working on transformation within Government departments and in key areas of public services.

Since 2020, we have worked with the UK Space Agency on developing a UK Space Domain Awareness capability, as well as on the formation of the National Space Operations Centre (NSpOC).

In addition to providing a comprehensive Space-Enabled Transformation services, LAB287 is committed to research and studies aimed at furthering the adoption of space-enabled technologies to improve efficiency, innovation and profitability in UK public services and commercial enterprise.

Our vision. Bringing the potential of space to every organisation.

Our vision is simple. By moving boldly and early to embrace the wealth of data, services and other resources available in or from space, public sector bodies and private enterprise organisations in the UK have the opportunity to effect performance-transforming change, and establish long term competitive advantage on the global stage.

We see space data and capabilities as an already rich resource offering possibilities for organisations in every field to improve performance, productivity and efficiency.

With the certainty of exponential expansion of these space-related resources in the years ahead, our aim is both to evangelise for this potent resource, and to be world leaders in assisting in its successful utilisation.

LAB287 in Government and the Public sector.

We have worked within the UK public sector for more than a decade, and know the sector almost as well as we know space.

During this time we have successfully implemented change across key Central Government departments, the NHS, the MoD and a number of local authorities, gaining first hand expertise in the governance, controls and scrutiny that come with delivering major change in the public sector.

In this regard, we are experienced in meeting the requirements of Government Digital Services (GDS) for technical standards/assurance; Central Digital & Data Office (CDDO) for technical assurance; and the Cabinet Office (for spend controls).

We are familiar with the provision,  through the Infrastructure and Projects Authority (IPA), of quarterly reports on progress to Treasury for Projects and Programmes on the Government Major Projects Portfolio (GMPP).

We are also fully familiar with the requirements of the Government Internal Audit Agency (GIAA) and National Audit Office (NAO) , in verifying the delivery of expected outcomes.

We are expert in the sensitivities and constraints involved in delivering high profile change within Government and public sector environments. We believe that our experience, combined with our expertise in Space-Enabled Transformation, positions us well to contribute to the conversation surrounding decision making and transformation implementation within the public sector.

In addition, in alignment with the ambitions of the National Space Strategy and the Space Industrial Plan, the roadmap for LAB287 includes a prominent role in the provision of space-data brokers and integrators, supporting the aim of enabling all companies to adopt space-enabled solutions.
